Italy and France sign space technology cooperation agreements
During the International Space Summit at the Grand Palais in Paris, Italian and French companies signed two industrial agreements to strengthen space sector cooperation. The deals focus on artificial intelligence and optical satellite communications.
The first partnership between Sopra Steria/CS GROUP and the Italian firm AIKO aims to integrate advanced AI technologies into European platforms for managing space operations. This collaboration seeks to increase automation, improve satellite data analysis, and support decision-making processes for mission management.
The second agreement is a Memorandum of Understanding between Leaf Space and the French company Cailabs. This partnership focuses on integrating high-capacity optical satellite links into ground segment services, which provide the terrestrial infrastructure necessary for communicating with satellites.
High-level officials attended the signing, including Italy’s Minister of Enterprises and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso, and France’s Minister Delegate for Europe, Benjamin Haddad. Urso noted that the cooperation aims to build a more competitive and sovereign European space industry.
