Italy announces cultural commemorations for Philippe Berson and Renato Borsoni

Italy is hosting several cultural commemorative projects in 2026. In Gibellina, the Belìce/EpiCentro della Memoria Viva will present ‘Mummie’, an immersive exhibition by the late French artist Philippe Berson. Curated by Gaetano Costa, the project explores the relationship between theater, photography, and sculpture, drawing inspiration from Berson’s long-standing connection to Palermo and his work inspired by the Capuchin Catacombs.

In Brescia, the Centro Teatrale Bresciano has launched a multi-disciplinary project to honor Renato Borsoni, the institution's founder. The initiative marks the centenary of Borsoni's birth in 1926 and precedes the decennial of his death in 2027. The project aims to celebrate his impact on the national theater scene and his vision of public theater as a transformative cultural institution for the community.
