Italy Boosts Contemporary Art with 2026 Funding Wins for GAM Torino and National Projects

The Galleria Civica d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea di Torino (GAM) was selected as a winner of the Italian Council 2026, receiving support from the Ministry of Culture’s Direzione Generale Creatività Contemporanea. The grant will fund the bilingual monographic volume “Balancing Soul / Anima equilibrista” on artist Alessandro Pessoli, documenting over 35 years of his work.

In the same funding round, the Piano per l’Arte Contemporanea (PAC) announced 29 project winners across 15 Italian regions, allocating a total of €3 million to acquire, produce, and promote contemporary artworks. New Director of the Directorate, Costantino D’Orazio, said, “The PAC confirms a strategic tool through which the Ministry supports the growth of Italy’s contemporary heritage, emphasizing project quality and nationwide dissemination.” These initiatives aim to strengthen Italy’s public contemporary art collections and expand their visibility both domestically and internationally.
