Italy boosts health services with nationwide blood drive and new emergency vehicles

A coordinated blood‑donation campaign called “DonatoriNati mobilità il dono” was carried out in several Italian cities—including Milan, Ostia, Naples, Cosenza and Reggio Calabria—encouraging citizens, especially young people, to donate blood during the summer shortage. Police, fire‑fighters and volunteers supported the effort, highlighting the ongoing need for blood for patients undergoing chemotherapy, organ transplants and emergency care.

In the Abruzzo region, the local health authority ASL 1 Abruzzo delivered five new medical cars and an additional ambulance to the 118 emergency service, part of a broader fleet‑modernisation programme. The plan includes further ambulances and a neonatal transport unit (STEN) by August, aiming to replace aging vehicles and improve safety for both patients and emergency personnel.
