Saint Francis of Assisi commemorations held across Italy
Various Italian communities are organizing cultural and religious events to commemorate the 800th anniversary of the death of Saint Francis of Assisi.
In Termoli, a series of celebrations will culminate on September 26 with a concert by Gen Rosso, marking both the saint's death anniversary and the 50th anniversary of the local parish. The program aims to promote universal values such as peace, fraternity, and respect for creation.
In the Foligno district of Sant’Eraclio, three events including a lecture by Bishop Felice Accrocca and an art exhibition will focus on themes of peace and solidarity. Other regional activities include theatrical performances in Bitonto that portray the saint as a modern, visionary figure, and community festivals in Rivarolo del Re dedicated to the saint's legacy.
