Italy commemorates 80th anniversaries of parachute association and police mobile unit

On 23 June 2026, the Rome section of the National Association of Italian Parachutists marked its 80th anniversary with a ceremony that included a minute of silence for the fallen, speeches by section president Francesco Saverio Giuliano and honorary president Adriano Tocchi, and the dedication of a meeting hall to former president Marco Mattia Magretti. Attendees recalled the legacy of the Nembo Battalion and shared personal experiences of parachuting as a life‑school.

On 22 June 2026, the IV Mobile Police Regiment in Naples celebrated its 80th anniversary at the Nino Bixio barracks. The event featured the naming of the “Sala Benessere” after the late Vice‑Questor Ciro Lomaistro, with participation by senior police officials, the prefect of Naples, local authorities and Lomaistro’s family. Speakers highlighted the regiment’s role in maintaining public order during Italy’s numerous public demonstrations.

Both ceremonies underscored the historic traditions and ongoing commitment of Italy’s parachute and police mobile forces.
