Italy: Disputes arise over 5G infrastructure installations

Local governments and residents in Italy are facing disputes regarding 5G infrastructure installations. In Urgnano, the municipal council has sparked debate after accepting a 25-year concession proposal from the company Inwit. The company offered 55,000 euros for the area housing a 5G antenna, a figure significantly lower than the estimated 150,000 euros projected over the same period based on current rates. Opposition members criticized the decision as a loss for municipal funds, while Mayor Marco Gastoldi defended the choice as a necessary evaluation compared to national tax alternatives.

In Pesaro, residents of Borgo Santa Maria have launched protests following the start of panel installation for a new 5G radio base station on via Monte Subasio. The spontaneous committee representing the residents has filed formal warnings to suspend the activation, questioning the legality of the installation. They claim a discrepancy between the actual site and the location approved by Arpam and have accused the municipality of a lack of transparency by failing to provide specific documentation regarding the construction site.
