Italy reports economic growth and agricultural funding initiatives
Italy is seeing various economic and agricultural developments. In Calabria, the regional government is investing 2 million euros to foster innovation through partnerships between agricultural businesses and research entities. Additionally, the Regional Agency for Agricultural Disbursements (ARCEA) has authorized over 42.5 million euros in funds for Calabrian farms, providing an 85% advance for 2026 to improve liquidity.
In Basilicata, 20 million euros have been allocated for agricultural modernization and competitiveness. Meanwhile, AgriCat has responded to claims of system failures by noting that over 12,500 damage claims were successfully processed in six days, indicating a recovery in service functionality.
On a national scale, Bankitalia reported that Italy's current account surplus rose to 29.9 billion euros for the twelve months ending in July 2026, driven by a higher goods surplus. Other economic news includes a 1.9 billion euro market for personal protective equipment and discussions regarding electricity pricing and electric vehicle charging costs.
