Italy enhances seasonal medical services and digital pharmacy access

The local health authority (Ausl) has organised a summer medical assistance plan for the coastal resort area of Comacchio. Starting 27 June and running through 30 August, a Tourist Medical Guard will operate, while the local Urgent Care Centre (CAU) will remain open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and an continuity ambulatory will provide services from 8 p.m. to midnight. The programme includes staffed medical posts at several Lidi beaches, with free care for Italian residents and a €20‑€25 ticket for non‑residents.

In Poggibonsi, Tuscany, the municipal pharmacy has installed a “PagoSì” self‑service totem that allows citizens to use their electronic health card and PIN to pay health tickets, print lab and radiology reports, view vaccination records, request exemption certificates, change family doctors and book or modify laboratory examinations. The device operates during the pharmacy’s opening hours (8 a.m.–8 p.m.) and is intended to reduce travel to hospitals and cut waiting times.
