Italy implements various disability inclusion and accessibility initiatives
Various Italian municipalities and regional projects are implementing initiatives to enhance accessibility and social inclusion for people with disabilities.
In Basilicata, the ‘Basilicata For All 2.0’ project, supported by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, provides inclusive tourism opportunities through activities like boat trips and sports for youth. In Ancona, local authorities have reported 874 dedicated parking spaces for people with disabilities, with ongoing monitoring to ensure availability and prevent misuse.
In Venice, the ‘Paralympic Summer Camp 2026’ will bring together youth with and without disabilities for multisport activities to foster growth and social interaction. Additionally, the Municipality of Campobasso has reopened applications for its Day Center for people with severe disabilities, aiming to provide alternatives to institutionalization through social inclusion and autonomy.
