Italy expands Alzheimer's support through new centers and awareness campaigns

New initiatives and awareness campaigns are being launched in Italy to support individuals living with Alzheimer's and dementia.

In Piedmont, Socialcoop and Confcooperative Piemonte Sud have introduced ‘Intrecci di vite’, a new day center located in a renovated 1,000-square-meter Liberty-style villa. The facility includes 2,000 square meters of garden and is designed to help patients maintain personal and domestic skills while providing concrete support to families. Maurizio Serpentino, president of Socialcoop, emphasized that the center aims to address the collective need for care and community, acting as a complementary service to public entities.

In the Modena region, geriatric professionals from the Azienda Usl di Modena organized an information campaign titled ‘Il Mercato in-forma’. Held during Alzheimer's Week, the initiative utilized public spaces like the Albinelli Market and various community hubs in Soliera, Castelfranco Emilia, Fanano, Vignola, and Formigine to provide information on dementia, modifiable risk factors, and available local services. The goal is to reduce social stigma and promote healthy lifestyles to support both patients and caregivers.
