Italy expands electric vehicle charging network with Poste and Electra upgrades

Poste Italiane’s Project Polis has installed more than 3,200 electric‑vehicle charging points across Italy, of which roughly 1,500 are already operational. In Sicily’s Agrigentino area 34 points have been set up, 20 of them active. The programme aims to reach 5,000 stations by 2026, backed by €800 million from the national PNRR plan and €400 million from Poste, and is projected to add €1.061 billion to Italy’s GDP and create about 18,600 jobs.

Electra inaugurated Italy’s first 1,000 kW ultra‑fast charging station in Peschiera del Garda, Veneto, and began operating as an eMobility Service Provider. Its new app and badge give users access to over 800,000 charging points across Europe, featuring a co‑pilot algorithm that plans routes, compares prices and optimises charging sessions in real time.
