Italy expands electronic ID card service with open days

The Italian Ministry of the Interior announced special open days to issue electronic identity cards (CIE) as paper identity cards become invalid on 3 August 2026. In Rome, municipal offices in Municipio V (Via di Torre Annunziata 1) and Municipio XI (Via Portuense 579) will be open on 6 June from 08:30‑15:00 and 08:00‑14:00 respectively, with additional service points in Piazza delle Cinque Lune, Piazza Sonnino, Piazza Santa Maria Maggiore and Via Petroselli 52 operating 08:30‑16:30 on 6 June and 08:30‑12:30 on 7 June.

Settimo Milanese will host a series of extraordinary CIE issuance windows on 10 June (13:30‑18:30), 12 June (09:00‑12:00 and 13:30‑15:30), 20 June (09:00‑12:00), 24 June (13:30‑18:30) and 29 June (09:00‑12:00 and 13:30‑15:30). Appointments are mandatory and can be booked online via the Agenda CIE portal or by phone for the Settimo Milanese locations. Applicants must bring a recent passport‑style photo, the expired paper card or a police report if it was lost or stolen, and, for minors, both parents or a signed consent form. Foreign nationals must also present a valid residence permit or renewal receipt.
