Rebibbia Prison Launches Cybersecurity Training for Detainees

A 200‑hour cybersecurity training programme has been inaugurated at Rome’s Rebibbia prison under a 2024 protocol between the Cyber Security Foundation, the Department of Prison Administration and the Rome Penitentiary Chamber. The initiative provides 15 donated computers and expert instruction, enabling participants to earn international Fortinet certifications – Fortinet Certified Professional in Network Security (FCF) plus Fortinet Certified Foundation and Associate credentials.

Marco Gabriele Proietti, president of the Cyber Security Foundation, said the program offers “an opportunity for personal redemption and social inclusion” and emphasized that education is a powerful tool for change. Gaetano Scalise, former president of the Rome Penitentiary Chamber, highlighted that the course will help detainees gain skills that are “highly demanded by the labour market” and support their reintegration after release.
