Italy expands public defibrillator network in Gravina and Medicina

Two new automated external defibrillators (DAE) were inaugurated in Gravina, Puglia, on 25 July 2026, placed in Piazza Benedetto XIII and Via Bari. The project, promoted by MG Communication Srl with local businesses, was carried out despite the absence of municipal officials and aims to strengthen the town’s “città cardioprotetta” status.

In Medicina, Emilia‑Romagna, Mayor Matteo Montanari and Civil‑Protection assessor Marco Brini announced the continuation of the “Medicina cardioprotetta” programme, which now provides at least one publicly accessible defibrillator in every frazione. New units were installed at the Lazzaretto police headquarters, the Portonovo medical office, and outside the Fiorentina social centre, with additional devices mounted on civil‑protection vehicles. Seven older devices were replaced, several featuring IoT sensors for remote monitoring, and further installations are planned for Fossatone and Buda. Training courses for citizens are also being organised to ensure proper use of the equipment.
