Italy expands renewable energy with Venice lagoon cleanup plant and Cremona shared solar scheme

Gift Solutions announced a photovoltaic community plant in Venice to power a filtration system that removes micro‑plastics, floating plastic waste and hydrocarbons from the lagoon. The system operates continuously, processing up to 35 m³ of water per hour and costs only €1.5 per day per unit. The project is built in partnership with Fondazione Civitas and will be financed through public, private and crowdfunding contributions.

In Cremona, the municipality and AEM Cremona S.p.A. launched the CACER project, a shared‑consumption renewable energy configuration based on a 1,281‑module bifacial solar array delivering about 742 kW peak power. Expected annual production of roughly one million kilowatt‑hours will be fed into the grid to offset public electricity use, positioning the city as a proactive actor in the regional energy transition.
