Italy expands tourism accommodation categories to include bed boats, tree houses and other innovations

Italy's Unified Conference Agreement (Accordo della Conferenza Unificata n. 22/CU) issued on 18 March 2026 updates the official tourism classification, adding new categories such as bed boats, tree‑house stays, floating accommodations and other innovative lodging types. The amendment, published in the Official Gazette on 2 April 2026, obliges regions and municipalities to adjust licensing, health standards and tourist taxes for these novel services, prompting industry calls for clear guidelines.
