Italy faces major traffic delays on A1 highway and Bergamo e‑BRT construction
An accident on the A1 motorway near km 85‑700 between Fiorenzuola and Fidenza involved five vehicles and forced traffic onto a single lane, creating a 7‑km queue and extending travel times to about 45 minutes in the direction of Bologna. Police, road‑side assistance and Autostrade per l'Italia crews worked to clear the site while drivers were advised to detour via SS 9.
In Bergamo, work on the new e‑BRT corridor on via Paleocapa has reduced the number of car lanes from three to two, reallocating the right‑hand lane for exclusive use by the electric bus system. The change, effective from 11 June, has caused single‑lane traffic flow, longer queues and the installation of monitoring cameras to enforce the new lane restrictions. Completion of the e‑BRT service is expected by August.
