Italy faces new wave of severe storms and heavy rainfall

Italy is facing a new wave of severe weather as an Atlantic front approaches, threatening several regions with heavy rainfall and a significant drop in temperature. Meteorologists predict a critical weather phase, with Mattia Gussoni of tilmeteo.it forecasting a turning point on Sunday, October 18.

Recent extreme weather in the country included a tornado in Sicily and heavy storms that caused flooding and landslides, prompting the Italian Civil Protection to issue warnings for multiple regions. The upcoming disruption is attributed to a low-pressure system over Scandinavia.

Specific regions expected to experience heavy precipitation include Piedmont, Liguria, Lombardy, Veneto, and Tuscany, as well as parts of central Italy and the Tyrrhenian coast.
