Italy gambling disorder center accessibility varies by region
An analysis by the independent project Oltre il Gioco has mapped the potential accessibility of gambling disorder rehabilitation centers across Italy. The study measures the ratio of registered centers to the resident population in each region to determine how easily individuals can access support.
Lombardia ranks 10th in Italy for accessibility, with 43 centers serving one resident for every 234,086 people. This performance is better than the national average, which stands at one center per 244,576 residents.
Conversely, several regions face significant challenges in accessibility. Calabria shows the most difficult access, with only one center for every 1,827,571 residents. Other regions with low accessibility include Campania, Sicilia, Sardegna, and Trentino-Alto Adige. The study emphasizes that these findings reflect the geographic availability and potential coverage area of services rather than the clinical quality of care or the effectiveness of the professionals involved.
