Italy grapples with rising chronic poverty and a push for stronger financial education
A Caritas report from Perugia indicates that poverty in the Umbrian capital has become longer‑lasting, more complex and resistant to ordinary responses, urging public institutions to address the structural causes of social exclusion.
Meanwhile, Pierre Cordier, CEO of Groupama Assicurazioni, presented the sixth edition of the Change Lab Italia 2030 observatory, highlighting Italy’s lack of financial literacy as a barrier to investment decisions. He called for clearer, more accessible advice, a hybrid model that combines artificial‑intelligence tools with human insight, and a broader cultural shift toward informed saving and protection.
Together, the two reports underline growing socio‑economic challenges in Italy, from persistent poverty to insufficient financial education, and the need for coordinated policy and institutional action.
