Italian cultural heritage highlighted through new books and art exhibitions

Several new publications and exhibitions are highlighting Italian cultural heritage, ranging from viticulture to fine arts and archival preservation.

In Limone Piemonte, the “Libri da Gustare” festival features sommelier and author Maria Luisa Alberico, who presents “Abbecedario Dionisiaco.” The book serves as a map of Italy’s viticultural heritage, covering over 200 grape varieties through history, literature, and sensory descriptions.

In Basilicata, archaeologists Maria Pina Garaguso, Annarita Sannazzaro, and Stefano Del Lungo have released “Sulle tracce del vino in Basilicata.” The volume utilizes applied archaeology to create enotourism itineraries across four DOC regions, connecting wine production with historical landscapes and archaeological sites.

Art enthusiasts in Tuscany can view the “Pittura a Napoli dopo Caravaggio” exhibition at Forte dei Marmi. Curated by Nadia Bastogi, the show presents the De Vito Foundation’s collection of 17th-century Neapolitan painting, tracing the evolution of naturalism following Caravaggio’s influence.

Finally, Andrea De Pasquale’s new book, “L’Ospedale dei libri,” explores the history of the Institute of Book Pathology. The work details the institution's journey from its 1938 founding by Alfonso Gallo to its integration into the Ministry of Culture, focusing on the essential science of preserving historical documents.
