Italy holds peace marches and commemorations for war victims

Commemorations and peace marches are taking place across Italy to honor victims of historical and current conflicts. In Marzabotto, crowds gathered for the 82nd anniversary of the Monte Sole massacres, where Nazi troops killed civilians in 1944. Speakers, including European Parliament member Cecilia Strada and Marzabotto Mayor Valentina Cuppi, called for an end to modern atrocities in Gaza and Ukraine, emphasizing the need to protect innocent lives.

In Comiso, the “Comiso cantiere per la Pace” committee has organized a march for October 11. This event marks a return to mobilization similar to the 1981 protests against Cruise missiles. The upcoming procession will feature a 70-meter white cloth titled “Sudario della Memoria,” created by students to display the names of over 18,500 children killed in Gaza.
