Italy: Hospital water leaks and mushroom foraging safety warnings

In Naples, Giuseppe Alviti, general secretary of the Federazione Nazionale Lavoratori Italia (FNL Italia), has reported water infiltration in the corridors and wards of the Ospedale del Mare. Alviti claims that during rainfall, staff are forced to use buckets and cloths to manage the water, and he has called for urgent inspections to ensure the safety of patients and medical personnel.

Separately, in the Varese region, the Prefecture of Varese and the Alpine and Speleological Rescue teams are issuing safety warnings for mushroom foragers. Following several recent rescue operations, authorities have released a guide titled ‘Sicuri a cercar funghi’ to promote prevention. The guide advises foragers to avoid steep slopes and slippery terrain, check weather forecasts, carry essential equipment like headlamps and extra batteries, and inform a trusted person of their intended route and return time.
