Various cultural, religious, and artistic events are taking place across Italy to mark the 800th anniversary of the death of Saint Francis of Assisi.

In Missaglia, over 500 people attended a meeting featuring religious and cultural figures to discuss the Saint’s message regarding poverty and universal brotherhood. In Mantova, the University of the Third Age hosted a dialogue on the long history of the Franciscan presence in the city, while Ancona prepared for a musical concert by Alessandro Cappella to coincide with an upcoming exhibition titled ‘IO, FRATE FRANCESCO’.

In Rome, the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia scheduled a concert at the Auditorium Parco della Musica to explore the link between Franciscan spirituality and sacred music. Other regional initiatives include an urban trekking event in Monteprandone and guided historical tours of the San Francesco parish in Lerici to promote local artistic heritage.
