Italy hosts Mercurio arts festival and Olbia aerospace summit

The Mercurio Festival in Palermo is entering its final week of its eighth edition. Following three weekends that drew over 5,000 attendees and several sold-out shows, the multidisciplinary event will conclude with a program featuring theater, dance, and music. Highlights include secret shows and collaborations through the Orbite initiative, starting with musical theater from the Marseille-based company Risonanze.

In Olbia, the fourth edition of the Aerospace Festival organized by Astec has concluded, focusing on Sardinia’s potential role in the space economy. Discussions centered on technologies for lunar and Martian exploration, specifically the ‘Small Mission to Mars’ project. This initiative, developed within the Sardinia Aerospace District, aims for a national Mars surface landing by 2031. A key focus is In-Situ Resource Utilization (ISRU), which involves developing technologies to manufacture structural components using lunar or Martian soil to reduce the need for transporting materials from Earth.
