Italy hosts musical events commemorating Saint Francis of Assisi

Various musical performances are scheduled across Italy to commemorate the 800th anniversary of the death of Saint Francis of Assisi.

In Vibo Valentia, the polyphonic choir ‘Pensieri, Musica e Parole’, directed by Antonio Romano, will perform ‘Altissimu, Onnipotente, Bon Signore!’ on October 31, 2026, at the Church of Santa Maria del Soccorso. The concert features works by Monsignor Marco Frisina, including ‘Pianto di Madonna Povertà’ and ‘Fratello Sole e Sorella Luna’, with performances by soprano Marilena Scarmozzino and Gianni Colarusso.

In Venegono Inferiore, the Atmosfere Ensemble will present ‘Note di pace tra cielo e terra’ on November 1 at the Church of San Michele. Part of the cultural series ‘Alla scoperta di Francesco d’Assisi: Il giullare di Dio’, this medieval-themed concert is organized by the Maurizio Mingardi Cultural Association and the Pro Loco of Venegono Inferiore.
