Italy hosts national championships for traditional wooden disc throwing

Italy recently hosted major national championships for traditional wooden disc throwing disciplines, specifically ruzzola and ruzzolone.

The 5th Italian Ruzzola Championship took place near Lake Polverina on Monte Fiegni. The competition featured 48 teams divided into two categories. In Category A, the Perugian team consisting of Pino Luzzi, Livio Fabbri, Fabrizio Mencarelli, and Leonardo Grazi secured first place. In Category B, the Macerata-based team of Domenico Antonini, Marino Sanpaolo, Giorgio Fraticelli, and Luca Fraticelli claimed the Italian title.

Simultaneously, the 53rd Italian Absolute Ruzzolone Championship was held at the renovated Collestrada facility in the Treppi forest area, organized by Asd Bosco and promoted by FIGeST. The event saw approximately 600 participants. The championships included various youth categories, such as Juniores, Allievi, Ragazzi, and Pulcini, to support the future of the sport. Winners in the youth divisions included Nicolò Bizzini, Stefano Polacci, Alessandro Cerfogli, and Giulio Muzzarelli.
