Italy implements housing support measures in Campi Flegrei and Casatenovo

Italian authorities are implementing various measures to address housing emergencies and market stagnation. In the Campi Flegrei region, Campania Councilor Claudia Pecoraro announced that ACER tenants subject to eviction orders due to seismic emergencies will not be required to pay rent for the period they cannot occupy their homes.

To further support displaced families, the Campania Region is considering a €500,000 fund to cover 100% of IMU taxes for property owners who provide housing through agreed-rent contracts. This initiative aims to increase the availability of affordable housing in the private market.

In Casatenovo, local administrators are promoting the use of the 'Fondo di Garanzia' (Guarantee Fund) through the Agenzia per la Casa. This tool is designed to encourage landlords to rent out vacant properties by providing a public guarantee. If a tenant faces sudden financial hardship, such as job loss or medical expenses, the fund covers unpaid rent and ensures payments are sent directly to the owner to mitigate the risk of non-payment.
