Italy implements mosquito control following suspected dengue case

Authorities in Italy are conducting mosquito control operations in response to public health concerns. In Reggio Emilia, an urgent ordinance has been issued following a suspected case of dengue fever. As a precaution, mosquito control measures—including adulticide and larvicide treatments—will target a 200-meter radius around via Pietro Micca. The regional surveillance plan involves three successive stages: three consecutive nights of adulticide spraying in public areas, the removal of larval foci in private areas via door-to-door interventions, and repeated larvicide application in public drains.

Simultaneously, Albano Laziale has scheduled adulticide treatments in public green spaces, including parks, gardens, and playgrounds. These nocturnal operations aim to reduce the population of adult mosquitoes, which are a frequent summer nuisance. Residents in both areas are advised to take precautions, such as keeping windows and doors closed during nighttime spraying operations.
