Italy initiates mosquito control following suspected Dengue cases

Authorities in several Italian municipalities have initiated emergency mosquito control measures following reports of suspected Dengue virus cases. In Sarezzo, ATS Brescia reported a person with symptoms compatible with the disease, prompting the local government to deploy adulticide and larvicide treatments across multiple streets from September 17 to September 20.

In Lissone, Mayor Laura Borella issued an urgent ordinance for hygienic-sanitary disinfestation following a suspected case reported by ATS Brianza. The intervention targets a 200-meter radius around the residence of the affected individual, scheduled to take place between September 18 and September 20. This follows recent reports of Dengue and West Nile virus in nearby areas including Monza, Besana in Brianza, Varedo, Seveso, and Cassago.

Residents in affected zones are advised to keep doors and windows closed, suspend air exchange systems, and keep pets indoors during treatments. For those with gardens, it is recommended to harvest fruit and vegetables before interventions; if they are reached by the products used, they should be washed thoroughly after a 15-day waiting period.
