Italy intensifies security operations and anti-mafia measures

Italian authorities are implementing various security and anti-crime measures across several regions. In Naples, Prefect Michele di Bari has activated an extraordinary territorial control plan to combat micro-criminality, youth gangs, and the illegal use of weapons. This initiative has resulted in the seizure of 467 weapons, ammunition, and explosives over the last three months. Additionally, a security and urban regeneration plan has been established for the Porta Capuana district to improve livability through increased patrols.

In Lecce, Prefect Natalino Manno warned of evolving mafia tactics, noting that criminal organizations are infiltrating social associations, Pro Loco, and local economies, sometimes utilizing women to manage command roles and gain social consensus.

In Milan, law enforcement has increased presence in nightlife areas like the Navigli and Darsena, leading to drug seizures and investigations, while a bar in Rozzano had its license suspended following repeated violence. In Ancona, police have maintained a continuous presence in the Piano San Lazzaro neighborhood through weekly patrols and aerial support. Other regional activities include routine police checks in Cremona and addressing road safety concerns in Ischia through the potential reintroduction of speed cameras.
