Italy launches 2026/2027 influenza vaccination campaign

The 2026/2027 influenza vaccination campaign is set to begin in early October across Italy, including regions such as Sicily and the ATS Insubria territory.

The campaign will follow a phased approach. An initial phase starting October 1st will prioritize high-risk groups, including the elderly, children aged 6 months to 6 years, pregnant women, individuals with chronic pathologies, and blood donors. Following this priority period, the vaccine will be available for free to all citizens starting October 12th in certain areas.

Health authorities aim to achieve high coverage rates, specifically targeting a minimum of 75% among those over 65, with an ideal goal of 95%. The initiative is designed to reduce the impact of respiratory infections and prevent complications within the population.
