Italy launches regional influenza and Covid-19 vaccination campaigns

Vaccination campaigns for influenza and Covid-19 have launched across various Italian regions for the 2026-2027 season. Health authorities and scientific organizations, including the Osservatorio Virusrespiratori, are urging early immunization to prevent complications before the seasonal peak.

In Tuscany, free vaccinations for influenza and Covid-19 began in October, targeting high-risk groups, healthcare workers, and the elderly. Similarly, the Lazio region has deployed 1.38 million doses through a network of 140 vaccination centers, involving thousands of general practitioners and pediatricians to reach vulnerable populations.

Piedmont has also initiated its campaign, focusing on increasing coverage among those over 65. In Rimini, the Istituto per la sicurezza sociale organized open days to provide easy access to vaccinations for children, pregnant women, and the elderly. Experts emphasize that even with mild autumn temperatures, immediate vaccination is critical as the immunity response takes approximately two weeks to develop.
