Italy launches 27th “Vacanze coi Fiocchi” holiday safety campaign

The 27th edition of the nationwide “Vacanze coi Fiocchi” campaign was inaugurated across Italy to promote safe and environmentally‑friendly driving during the summer holidays. Launch events were held on the islands of Lipari and the Aeolian archipelago, and in the city of Arezzo, where local police distributed information and urged motorists to respect speed limits, take breaks and reduce emissions.

In Arezzo, more than 100,000 cars are expected to travel between mid‑July and late August. A recent study shows that nearly one in three vehicles has a safety‑related defect such as worn tyres or an overdue technical inspection, underscoring the campaign’s relevance.

Meanwhile, the coastal guard intensified maritime controls around the Egadi Islands, issuing 32 administrative fines totaling about €7,000 for violations including illegal anchoring, lack of documentation and exceeding passenger limits on small vessels.
