Italy launches electric vehicle charging bonus and digital innovation funds
Italy has launched several initiatives to bolster its digital and automotive sectors. The Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy (MIMIT) has opened applications for the ‘Bonus Colonnine,’ a program providing an 80% reimbursement for the purchase and installation of private electric vehicle charging infrastructure. Managed by Invitalia, the fund offers up to 1,500 euros for individuals and 8,000 euros for condominium common areas, with a total allocation of 68 million euros through 2030.
Additionally, MIMIT has allocated 140.2 million euros to strengthen Italy’s technological capacity and digital services. This includes 87.7 million euros for innovation agreements, 30 million euros for research in quantum and biomedical technologies, and 17.5 million euros for electronic communications and radio spectrum management. The latter includes funding for the European 112 emergency number services.
On the international stage, Italy has joined the 50-in-5 campaign through the Agency for Digital Italy (AgID). This global initiative aims to support the development of secure and interoperable Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI).
