Italy launches inclusive sailing projects for disabled youth and families

A press conference on 15 July announced the "Mare senza Barriere" day in Ladispoli, scheduled for 31 July. The event will offer up to 50 participants with disabilities a free motor‑boat mini‑cruise along the coast, with support from volunteer captains, local officials and the Coast Guard.

On 16‑17 July the sailing vessel Oceano Bird stopped in Sapri as part of the "Buonvento – Tutti a bordo" tour, carrying 24 autistic youths and their tutors. The tour, which began in Liguria and will continue through Tuscany, Lazio, Campania, Calabria, Sicily, Puglia, the Adriatic coast and end in Trieste on 1 September, aims to use sailing as a tool for social inclusion.

Both initiatives highlight coordinated efforts by regional authorities, NGOs and volunteers to provide accessible maritime experiences for people with disabilities across Italy.
