Italy launches mosquito control following Dengue cases

Health authorities in Italy have initiated extraordinary mosquito control measures following reports of Dengue fever. In Pramaggiore, the ULSS4 Veneto Orientale confirmed an imported case of the virus in a local resident who contracted it abroad. To prevent local transmission, authorities will conduct adulticide and larvicide treatments between October 7 and October 9 in an area within 300 meters of the individual's residence.

In other regions, including San Vittore Olona and Cerro Maggiore, emergency disinfestation efforts have also been launched due to a suspected case of Dengue. These operations involve targeted street-level treatments to reduce the population of infected mosquitoes, such as the tiger mosquito.

Health officials are urging residents to assist in prevention efforts by eliminating standing water in gardens, courtyards, and containers like flowerpots or buckets. During active spraying operations, citizens are advised to keep doors and windows closed and to protect pets and outdoor items.
