Italy launches mosquito control following Dengue fever reports
Local authorities in Italy have initiated extraordinary mosquito control measures following reports of Dengue fever. In Lissone, a suspected case prompted the municipality to schedule three days of disinfestation starting September 19. The operations target both adult mosquitoes and larvae in public and private areas within a 200-meter radius of via Nullo, including the RSA Agostoni public park.
In Lido di Camaiore, a confirmed case of Dengue contracted by a tourist has led to emergency nighttime disinfestation scheduled for the early hours of September 22. This action follows regional health protocols for mosquito-borne diseases.
In both locations, residents are advised to keep windows and doors closed during treatments, protect pets, and cover or delay the consumption of fruits and vegetables in affected areas to avoid contact with insecticides.
