Italy launches new sports commission and senior activity program

The Italian Federation of Public Relations (FERPI) has created a new Sports and Events Commission. Led by coordinator Andrea Cicini, the ten‑member body will study the evolving language of sport, its impact on media and communication strategies, and promote public‑relations practices as a driver of the sector’s €32 billion economic value.

At the same time, the Italian Ministry for Sport and Youth, together with the Health and Family ministries, has issued a public call for the "Circolo 65" project. Opening on 29 July 2026, the initiative targets people aged 65 to 99, offering adapted physical activities to foster active ageing, prevent health issues and improve wellbeing. Applications from amateur sport associations and third‑sector entities close on 18 September 2026. The program is expected to generate broader community benefits and reinforce intergenerational ties.
