Italy launches summer health prevention and screening initiatives

Various health prevention initiatives are being conducted at summer vacation destinations in Italy to increase public awareness and accessibility to medical services.

In Diano Marina, the second edition of the ‘Un Mare di Salute’ (A Sea of Health) initiative was held at Spiaggia SportVillage. Organized by ATSL Area 1 in collaboration with Polisportiva Dianese Sea Sport, the event provided citizens and tourists with free rapid tests for HIV, Hepatitis B, and Hepatitis C. Health operators also offered information on healthy lifestyles and practical demonstrations on airway obstruction and emergency maneuvers.

In Budoni, the ‘La prevenzione non va in vacanza’ (Prevention does not go on vacation) campaign, promoted by the International Agency for Blindness Prevention and the Unione ciechi di Nuoro, focused on eye health. The initiative included the distribution of informative materials and over 70 free ophthalmic examinations to address risks associated with increased summer exposure to sun and water.
