Italy leads opening day of 100th International Six Days Enduro in Portugal

The 100th edition of the International Six Days Enduro (ISDE) commenced in Grândola, Portugal, with the first day of competition marked by challenging, dusty conditions across the Alentejo coast. Approximately 500 riders participated in the inaugural day, which spanned a route between Santiago do Cacém and Odemira.

Italy has taken an early lead in both the Trophy and Junior Trophy categories. Italian rider Andrea Verona secured the fastest individual time of the day, finishing 30 seconds ahead of Spain’s Josep Garcia. In the team standings, Italy holds a lead over France and Sweden. The United States also maintains a competitive position in the Junior Trophy standings.

The Portuguese national teams faced difficulties due to their starting positions at the back of the pack, which forced them to navigate heavy dust. The Senior Portuguese team finished the first day in 9th place among 17 teams, while the Junior team sits in 11th place. Despite the environmental challenges, individual performances like those of Ruben Ferreira in the junior category provided highlights for the host nation.
