Italy Marks War Memorial Centenaries with Stamp Release and Monument Celebration
A commemorative stamp honoring the "Maria Dolens" war bell of Rovereto will be issued on 20 July 2026. The ceremony, attended by President Sergio Mattarella, local officials and representatives of Poste Italiane, will unveil the stamp and feature the bell’s 100 ringtones as a symbol of peace. The public can purchase the stamp and request a special cancellation at a dedicated postal desk in the foundation’s premises.
Separately, the centenary of the 1926 inauguration of the Monument to the Fallen of the Great War in the Ivrea‑Torino area was recalled. Historical accounts describe a massive crowd gathered on 18 July 1926, with Prince of Piedmont and numerous civic, military and religious leaders present. Contemporary reports highlighted the patriotic fervour and extensive participation of local associations and families of the war dead.
