Italy men's basketball beats Croatia 103-91 in Gorizia friendly

The Italian senior men’s basketball team defeated Croatia 103‑91 in a friendly at Gorizia’s PalaBigot on June 24. Tommaso Baldasso led the scoring with 29 points, while Matteo Spagnolo added 19. Coach Marco Ramondino said the squad showed “the right road” and highlighted the need to improve chemistry and intensity before the World Cup 2027 qualifiers.

Italy’s 12‑man roster for the match featured guards Stefano Tonut and Gabriele Procida among others, with several players resting for the next test against Slovenia in Celje on June 27. The team will then face Iceland in Reykjavik on July 2 and Lithuania in Bologna on July 5 as the first phase of FIBA World Cup qualification concludes.

Ramondino emphasized managing workload and building a cohesive unit, noting that the friendly against Croatia serves as a crucial step in preparing for the upcoming official qualification matches.
