Italy motorway accidents cause major traffic delays and injuries
Multiple serious traffic accidents occurred on Italian motorways on September 10, causing significant travel disruptions.
On the A26 motorway, a collision at km 29 between Masone and Ovada resulted in a 4 km traffic jam heading toward Gravellona Toce. The incident involved several vehicles, and clearing operations were required to restore flow.
Separately, a massive multi-vehicle pileup occurred on the Salerno-Avellino junction (A2 motorway) near Lancusi-Baronissi. The chain reaction involved 13 vehicles, including cars, motorcycles, and heavy goods vehicles. Seven people were injured in the crash, though none are reported to be in life-threatening condition. The A2 was temporarily closed at km 6.600 to allow emergency services and investigators to secure the scene, with partial reopening occurring later in the evening.
