Italy moves ahead with urban regeneration projects in Bareggio and Rieti

The municipality of Bareggio approved an implementation plan to redevelop the former Ex Alma industrial site. The plan calls for the demolition of existing structures, complete asbestos remediation, and the construction of new residential buildings, a large public park, parking facilities, sidewalks and a bike‑pedestrian path linking to the existing network. Mayor Linda Colombo said the project will restore dignity to the long‑neglected area and benefit the broader community.

In the Lazio region, officials presented the masterplan for the Nazzareno Strampelli Experimental Institute in Rieti. The plan, approved by the regional council, launches the operative phase of a €7 million renovation that will host the future Faculty of Agriculture, modern research facilities and public amenities. Regional assessor Giovanni Rositani and council member Manuela Rinaldi highlighted the project's role in revitalising a historic scientific site and stimulating the city’s urban fabric.
