Italy's Euro 2032 stadium bid sees 13 cities compete for five venues
Italy, co‑hosting the UEFA Euro 2032 with Turkey, is evaluating proposals for the tournament's Italian venues. Sixteen stadium projects from thirteen cities have been submitted to the FIGC, which must recommend five host stadiums to UEFA by 1 October.
The Juventus Stadium in Turin currently meets all UEFA criteria, while other sites require renovation or new construction. Private investment in the overall stadium programme is estimated at €4.5‑5 billion, with an expected economic impact of €0.8‑1 billion.
Among the bids, the new Erasmo Iacovone stadium in Taranto, funded with more than €60 million of state money, is being championed by the local Five Star Movement group for inclusion. Verona has put forward the historic Stadio Bentegodi for consideration, and Palermo managed to file its dossier just before the deadline. Conversely, Lazio’s proposed redevelopment of the Flaminio stadium appears unlikely to secure a Euro 2032 match venue, with the federation possibly limiting it to a training centre.
The selection process will shape the future of Italian football infrastructure and regional development ahead of the 2026‑2027 construction phases.
