Italy newborn bonus deadline approaches for August 12

Families in Italy have until August 12 to apply for the 2026 newborn bonus for children born or adopted between January 1 and April 14, 2026. The measure provides a one-time payment of 1,000 euros to assist with initial expenses following a birth or adoption.

To qualify, families must have an ISEE for family benefits and inclusion not exceeding 40,000 euros. The benefit is available to Italian citizens, EU citizens, and non-EU citizens holding specific long-term residence or work permits. Applicants must be residents in Italy at the time of the birth, adoption, or pre-adoptive foster care.

Applications must be submitted by one of the parents via the INPS portal using digital identification such as SPID, electronic identity card, or the National Services Card. For events occurring after April 14, applications must be submitted within 120 days of the birth or adoption. Payments are processed by INPS in chronological order of application until the allocated 360 million euros in funds are exhausted.
