Italy opens applications for 2027 ‘Maestro del Lavoro’ honors

The Italian Ministry of Labour and Social Policies has opened applications for the 2027 ‘Stelle al merito del lavoro’ (Stars of Merit for Labour), a prestigious national honor that confers the title of ‘Maestro del Lavoro’. Applications must be submitted by October 30, 2026.

The decorations will be officially awarded by the President of the Republic on May 1, 2027, in observance of Labour Day. The awards recognize workers who have demonstrated exceptional skill, industriousness, and moral conduct throughout their professional lives.

Key criteria for candidates include being an Italian citizen, at least 50 years of age, and having completed at least 25 years of service as an employee. Valued contributions include workplace innovations, improvements in safety measures, and dedication to training new generations. In the Calabria region, 19 such honors are slated to be awarded.
