Italy Labor Merit Star application process

Overview

The Italian Ministry of Labour and Social Policies has initiated the application process for the 2027 “Stella al merito del lavoro” (Star of Merit for Labour) honors. These awards, which confer the title of “Maestro del Lavoro”, recognize workers for exceptional skill, industriousness, and moral conduct.

Applications must be submitted by October 30, 2026. Submissions can be made by companies, trade unions, welfare organizations, or workers themselves. For Italian citizens residing abroad, proposals are to be submitted through diplomatic or consular offices. Eligibility criteria include being an Italian citizen at least 50 years of age with a minimum of 25 years of service. The decorations will be officially awarded by the President of the Republic on May 1, 2027.
